Unity adalah sesuatu yang sangat kita butuhkan untuk membangun gereja, dengan tidak mencari kepentingan sendiri, sebaliknya hendaklah dengan rendah hati yang seorang mengganggap yang lain lebih utama daripada dirinya sendiri.
Pesan Kristus yang utama adalah mengasihi orang-orang di sekelilingmu, sayangnya di dunia ini kita masuk dalam sebuah generasi yang sangat mengagungkan individualisme, semua hanya aku-aku saja.
Di tahun ini, pesan dari gembala kita (Ps. Jeffrey Rachmat) adalah untuk saling membangun, supaya kehidupan kita bukan hanya sekedar untuk diri kita sendiri. Beberapa waktu yang lalu saya membaca artikel dari John Maxwell, ada kutipan yang sangat bagus, yang isinya :
“Once you have taste of significant, success will never satisfy you.” – “Sekali engkau merasakan hidup yang signifikan, kesuksesan tidak akan memuaskanmu lagi.”
Apa bedanya antara sukses dan signifikan – Sukses adalah adding value to one-self (menambahkan nilai ke diri sendiri), tetapi signifikan adalah hidup bermakna yang menambahkan nilai ke kehidupan orang lain.
Bayangkan jika ada banyak orang selfless yang mengayomi prinsip ini, apa yang bisa dikerjakan di bangsa ini akan menjadi limitless. Kita tidak bisa mendapatkan sukses sejati tanpa adanya kehidupan yang bermakna dan signifikan.
Ilustrasi – Kalau kita nonton film kungfu, ada sebuah pattern tersendiri, akan ada seorang master shifu dan biasanya dia mendapatkan seorang murid, dan dia mulai mengajarkan jurus-jurus sakti ke muridnya ini, dan biasa di akhirnya, murid-muridnya ada salah satu yang membangkang dan menjadi jahat.
Kalau saudara ingat, biasanya disaat murid ini membangkang dan melawan gurunya, ternyata baru ketahuan bahwa gurunya tidak mengajar semua jurusnya dulu, dan ada satu jurus pemungkas yang dia tidak ajari dan akhirnya bisa mengalahkan si murid yang jahat ini.
Kalau dikoneksikan dengan kehidupan sekarang, saat ini kita berada dalam lingkungan dunia dimana saat kita berhasil, kita menyimpan hal ini ke dalam diri kita sendiri karena kita takut orang itu akan menjadi lebih jago dan mahir dari kita sendiri.
Tetapi kalau kita berpikir seperti ini – ibaratnya seperti dengan ilustrasi kungfu tadi, dari 10 jurus yang dipunyai sang master, si guru mungkin hanya mengajar 8 jurus karena dia takut muridnya jadi lebih jago dan membangkang nantinya, dan circle ini terus berjalan dimana si murid selanjutnya hanya berani mengajar 6 jurus ke muridnya, dan seterusnya sampai akhirnya jurus ini menghilang dari permukaan bumi.
Tetapi firman Tuhan mengajarkan hal yang sangat berbeda.Sebaliknya kita harus mementingkan orang lain lebih utama dari kehidupan diri kita sendiri, dan itu yang dinamakan “A life of Significant” by John Maxwell.
Kehidupan yang bermakna selalu dimulai dengan menambahkan value dalam kehidupan orang lain.
Here’s what I learned about how to have significant life:
1. We add value to others when we truly value others.
Kita menanamkan nilai dalam kehidupan orang lain pada saat kita sungguh-sungguh menghargai mereka, lebih dari sekedar apa yang bisa mereka kerjakan.
KIta harus menghargai hubungan lebih dari kesempurnaan, artinya dalam semua aspek hubungan, kita harus menjunjung tinggi intimacy, lebih dari kita menginginkan kesempurnaan.
Hal ini dilupakan supaya mereka bisa bertumbuh bersama, to value relationship, lebih dari kita sekedar memenangkan sebuah argumen, but to love the person more than their talents and giftings. Kasihilah orang lebih dari talenta dan kemampuan-nya.
Kehidupan yang bermakna beda dengan sukses, karena sukses selalu identik dengan diri sendiri, tetapi pada saat kita bisa melihat potensi dan bibit orang, terlepas dari apa yang bisa mereka kerjakan di tengah-tengah kita, to try and want to know and love them first, disaat kita bisa memenangkan orang-nya, yang lainnya akan bisa bertumbuh dengan sendiri-nya.
2. We add value to others when we add value to ourselves for others.
Kita menambahkan nilai dalam hidup orang lain pada saat kita menambahkan nilai dalam diri kita sendiri bagi orang lain.

Yesus mengerti sebelum dia bisa melayani orang lain, dia harus bisa mulai untuk bertumbuh dalam kehidupan-nya sendiri, kita tidak bisa memberikan kepada orang sesuatu yang kita tidak miliki.
Ide dari kita menambahkan nilai berhubungan dengan apakah kita ada nilai yang bisa kita bagikan ke orang lain, pertumbuhan pribadi selalu dimulai terlebih dahulu sebelum kita bisa memberi dampak bagi orang lain.
Pada saat saudara diberkati dan sukses, kuncinya adalah di pikiran saudara, apakah saudara mau share ke orang lain? atau hanya mau menyimpan itu ke diri sendiri?
Stay Rooted in Christ – Berakarlah di dalam Kristus, Kita tidak ada apa-apanya tanpa Tuhan Yesus, karena itu kita harus bergantung dan staying connected in Christ, pada saat itu kita bisa menemukan tujuan dan terus bertahan dalam hidup.
Make a commitment do grow daily – Buatlah komitmen untuk bertumbuh setiap hari, semua orang bisa bertumbuh, tetapi bertumbuh yang intentional dan strategis harus dilakukan dengan sebuah komitmen, nothing happen automatically.
Buat rencana untuk level-up, tetapi jangan berhenti disitu, tetapi connect juga dengan orang lain, because connection is always intentional.
